
Rob Fleming is the Director of Sustainability at FCA, a Philadelphia based architecture and design firm. Rob’s practice areas include sustainability leadership, strategic planning, design facilitation, and sustainable design.

Director of Sustainability
Starting in 2023, Rob joined the firm to lead the effort towards the goal of becoming a nationally recognized sustainable design firm. A few highlights: initiated the firm’s ESG platforms; Developed a revolutionary approach to acheiving sustaiinability on every project within budget; and led the firm in a presentation at the 2025 AIA National Convention. Rob is also co-leading FCA’s 2026 – 2028 strategic planning process. Rob’s current projects are listed below:

Rob led the efforts at Ian Smith Design Group to integrate sustainability into the firm’s culture and practice.

Selected Projects with Re:Vision Architecture
- Roxborough Conservancy and The Schuylkill Project, Charrette Team leader. Conceptualize low-impact development scenarios for an ecologically sensitive area in the Shawmont section of Philadelphia, 2013, (Unbuilt).
- Lancaster County Urban Forest Project, Charrette Facilitator. Co-led 60 person integrated design process to design an 87 acre natural recreation area and a zero energy headquarters for the Lancaster County Conservancy. (Unbuilt).
- YMCA at Snipes Farm, Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Sustainable Design Charrette Team Leader, 2007. Led a team in the development of schematic design options for a LEED Gold YMCA project. (Unbuilt).
- Potomac Wildlife Conservation Area, Sustainable Design Charrette Team Leader. Led a team in the development of the schematic design of a sustainable overnight camp project, Hard Bargain Farm, Maryland. The project has received Living Building Challenge designation in 2017.
- Energy Coordinating Agency, Sustainable Design Charrette Team Leader. Co-Leader of an interdisciplinary team of architects, clients, and consultants in the design of their warehouse and demonstration spaces in North Philadelphia. Completed in 2006
- Barkan Residence, Sustainable Design Charrette Participant, 2005. 8,000 sq. ft. LEED for Homes Pilot renovation residential project in the Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia (unbuilt)
- Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, Sustainable Design Charrette Team Leader, 2005. 30,000 sq. ft. LEED Silver renovation project for day care and adult care services, Optimization of room locations and functions in appropriate areas of the building in relationship to sun locations; proposed green roof
- Carver High School for Engineering and Science, Sustainable Charrette Team Leader, 2005. 40,000 S.F. renovation and addition for a LEED rated high school, Led one of four teams in developing schematic designs that incorporate sustainable strategies and technologies
- Churchville Nature Center, Sustainable Charrette Team Participant, 2004. Renovation and additions to nature center: Low impact design strategies to protect natural site, reallocation of existing functions to increase display and exhibit space and improve circulation
- Friends Center Corporation, Charrette Team Leader, 2004. 24,000 sq. ft. LEED Platinum renovation for office space. Space planning for sustainability; green roof, geothermal; on site water treatment system
- Jackie O’Neil Residence, Charrette Team Participant, 2004. Assisted in the design of sustainable house in Chester County: Cistern water collection, daylighting, building orientation, sustainable materials, first LEED Gold for Homes project in the country
